Encore une image qui illustre la majesté des paysages spatiaux. Le couple au premier plan rappelle la place de l’homme dans l’immensité de l’espace. C’est une ode à la découverte des planètes du système solaire et de (bien) plus loin.

Comme toujours avec les peintures de pyk, une certaine liberté artistique dans le nombre de planètes et des configurations des étoiles se fait sentir. On est sur la lune, mais on voit également pluton, la neuvième planète du système solaire durant 76 ans.

Le 24 août 2006, l’Union astronomique internationale a décidé de changer ses règles de classification et ainsi de mettre un terme au classement du système solaire en neuf planètes. Pluton a été rétrogradé et reclassé en planète naine malgré l’opposition farouche des américains (Pluton était la seule planète de notre système solaire découverte en 1930 par un américain…).

Raison de cette rétrogradation ? » Pluton ne remplissait plus tous les critères pour être qualifié de planète du système solaire.

Another image that illustrates the majesty of space landscapes. The couple in the foreground reminds us of man’s place in the immensity of space. It is an ode to the discovery of the planets of the solar system and (much) further.

As always with Pyk’s paintings, a certain artistic freedom in the number of planets and configurations of stars is felt. We are on the moon, but we also see pluto, the ninth planet of the solar system for 76 years.

On August 24, 2006, the International Astronomical Union decided to change its classification rules and thus put an end to the classification of the solar system into nine planets. Pluto has been demoted and reclassified as a dwarf planet despite the fierce opposition of the Americans (Pluto was the only planet of our solar system discovered in 1930 by an American…).
Reason for this demotion? » Pluto no longer met all the criteria to be qualified as a planet of the solar system.
